About Hana (Sanae) Alishio, LMT
MA 60042651
I offer manual muscular therapy and therapeutic massage therapy for all ages and genders in the beautiful and friendly Admiral district of West Seattle.
Soon after graduating from the Cortiva Institute of Massage in Seattle in 2008, I became a certified practitioner of
Active Release Techniques® (ART®).
I also integrate NeuroKinetic Therapy® (NKT®) and other protocols to help my clients achieve their own goals. In order to find the “cause of pain” and to focus on the structural work, I pay close attention to their movement patterns, range of motion, functional abilities, and pain and injury histories.
I love to help my clients be strong within their own levels and regain the ability to enjoy daily activities without pain or discomfort.
Besides helping people, my passions are dancing, photography, and cooking. I always follow the light and music everywhere I go!
About Akari Therapeutic
AKARI (あかり/ 明かり) means “light” in Japanese, which symbolizes the goal I have for your body: seeing and feeling full of light, energized, healthy and pain-free. It’s also my daughter’s middle name, so it has a special place in my heart.
My goal is for you to leave my office with less pain, more movement, more awareness, and extra smiles.
Let’s work together as a team!

About Active Release Techniques® (ART®)
Hana Alishio, LMT, is certified Active Release Techniques® (ART®) Provider — a patented soft tissue technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia (connective tissue), and nerves.
A multitude of musculoskeletal conditions can benefit from ART. These conditions all have one important similarity: they are frequently the result of overused muscles, causing muscle spasm, scar tissue and eventual loss of function within a region of the body.
ART works by breaking up adhesions, which are dense collections of scar tissue that form when muscles and connective tissues are injured. When the scar tissue binds between your muscles, it limits flexibility, causing pain and stiffness in muscles and joints.
Sometimes adhesions can also entrap nerves. The manipulation of the soft tissues through ART breaks up the adhesions so your muscles, joints, and nerves can move freely again.
During an ART session, Hana will palpate the affected area(s) to identify the location of scar tissues. She then uses the ART technique to isolate and target the area, manipulating it to break up the scar tissue, and restore proper blood flow so the area can heal.
